The Healthy Eating Guide is your tool to support lasting healthy eating behaviors and long-term weight and health management. This guide provides a list of healthy foods that we recommend eating MOST of the time. We understand there will be times when you enjoy a pizza night with family or indulge when you're on a vacation, but in order to manage your weight and health long term it's important to consistently choose the foods that will best support your weight and health goals—they should make up your diet most of the time.
The foods on the Healthy Eating Guide all fall within the "ls-6s" on the HMR Calorie Guide, meaning they are lower calorie, and emphasize many of the same foods you will find on some of the healthiest diets in the world (think DASH and Mediterranean). These eating patterns have been proven to support overall health, wellbeing, and weight management. In Phase 2, we encourage you to get into the habit of eating these foods more often than not. You'll get a variety of nutrients and phytochemicals to support overall health, while keeping calories low to manage your weight.
